Pitz Park

A relaxed summer day for families, with a natural swimming pond and leisure facilities, right in the village and no drive needed.

Piller Moor and Gachen Blick

Walk through the Piller Moor nature reserve to the Gachen Blick viewpoint. A good choice for a quieter day and for anyone curious about the Naturpark Kaunergrat.

Museum Stamserhaus

A glimpse of the history and traditional life of the region. Check opening times before visiting.

Walks from the door

Wenns and the surrounding villages have easy walks as well as more demanding routes. The tourist office in the village is happy to advise.

Hochzeiger and Jerzens

Hochzeiger

Particularly easy to reach from Wenns: walking, panoramic views, mountain huts and family activities in summer; skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing in winter.

ZirbenPark

A family mountain experience centred on the Zirbe (Swiss stone pine), with play and nature stations at altitude.

XP Adventure Park

High ropes and adventure for older children, teenagers and adults. Check age and height requirements before booking.

Pitztaler Gletscher and Rifflsee

Pitztaler Gletscher and Café 3.440

Further up the valley the scenery turns high alpine. Café 3.440 is a viewpoint among the 3,000 metre peaks, and in winter the glacier is a major ski destination.

Rifflsee

A beautiful mountain lake reached by cable car. Walking routes and the famous raft ride in summer, skiing and snow activities in winter.

Valley walks around Wenns, the Piller Moor, or easier routes from the official Pitztal tour portal.

For mountain days

Hochzeiger and Rifflsee offer a wide range of walks. Experienced walkers can explore higher alpine routes. Always check conditions first.

Naturpark Kaunergrat

The best place to learn about the plants, wildlife, geology and traditional landscapes of the region.

Winter in the Pitztal

Skiing and snowboarding

Hochzeiger is a convenient choice from Wenns and well suited to families. The Pitztaler Gletscher offers high-altitude skiing.

Beyond the slopes

Tobogganing, winter walking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. The Wenns-Piller area is especially lovely for quieter winter outings.

Day trips nearby

Imst: Rosengartenschlucht and Alpine Coaster

A spectacular gorge walk with narrow passages and waterfalls, plus the Alpine Coaster at Hoch-Imst. Wear proper shoes.

AREA 47 and the Ötztal

An adventure park at the entrance to the Ötztal with water slides, climbing, rafting and canyoning, a hit with teenagers. Continue up to Sölden for dramatic high-mountain scenery and, for James Bond fans, 007 ELEMENTS.

Innsbruck

The Altstadt with the Goldenes Dachl, Maria-Theresien-Straße and the Hofburg. Take the Nordkettenbahn cable car straight from the city into the high mountains, and the Alpenzoo for families.

Swarovski Kristallwelten, Wattens

Crystal, art and design. A nice change from the mountains, and good in bad weather.

The tourist office is in Wenns, a five minute walk away, with up-to-date advice on walks, events, lifts and conditions.

Pitztal questions and answers

How do I get from Wenns to the Hochzeiger ski area?

On the free ski bus. It runs about every 30 minutes and takes 15 to 20 minutes to Hochzeiger. The stop is 100 to 200 m from our apartments.

How far is it to the Pitztaler Gletscher and Rifflsee?

About 30 to 35 minutes by bus. In winter the glacier is a major ski destination, in summer there are walking routes and the raft ride on Rifflsee.

Which ski areas can I reach by car?

Hoch-Imst is 12 km away, Hochoetz 16 km, Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis 40 km and Sölden 50 km.

What is there to do with children in summer?

The natural swimming pond at Pitz Park right in Wenns, the ZirbenPark on Hochzeiger, the raft ride on Rifflsee and the Alpine Coaster at Hoch-Imst. Older children and teenagers love the XP Adventure Park and AREA 47 at the entrance to the Ötztal.

What can we do when it rains?

Innsbruck with its Altstadt and Hofburg, the Swarovski Kristallwelten in Wattens, museums in Imst or Innsbruck, the AREA 47 indoor activities, climbing halls and indoor pools.

Where do I get local information and the guest card?

At the Tourismusverband Pitztal office in Wenns, a five minute walk from our apartments. Depending on the season, the Pitztal Sommercard or the Pitz Member Card gives free or discounted cable cars and attractions.
